Of course, we have all had to make changes to the way that we conduct our day to day life. I have become much better at budgeting and living off of cash only (I have no credit cards now, I've gotten rid of them all) and my next step is learning how to save better.
However, one of the things I did that is so obvious, but didn't think of until now, is join the San Diego library! I read a lot, but I usually buy my books (I do like to keep them for exchanges and whatnot) and in this economy, that's just not a smart financial decision. There are 35 libraries in San Diego county, and my little blue card allows me borrowing rights to all of them.
So there you go, friends, if you like to read and haven't already, join your local library and save yourself some dollars!
Another way we're cutting costs is for Valentine's day. Mike and I are not doing gifts this year (I mean, really, we're disgusting year round, we don't need a day for it). Instead, we're doing a nice dinner (on Friday, not day-of) and doing some wine tasting on Saturday. We may do some hiking, weather permitting. We will make a lunch to go to Temecula and we'll cook at home on Valentine's day night.
We are just trying to cut corners where we can, and it seems to be working out ok so far. :)
